Dolores and Ross sell homemade pies at the Gardner Pie Shop Diner & Restaurant on 2nd Street in Barberton.
June 1945
Pie sales increase, making it necessary to expand to the Van Buren facility in Barberton.
March 1953
Gardner welcomes the 2nd generation who bring new flavors, influence and expansion.
Dec. 1978
Cherry Lime Chipotle wins 1st place American Pie Council Award
2007
Expansion warrants second move to Akron OH in our current 66,000 sq. ft. facility.
Feb. 2001
First national distribution of NON-GMO pies.
July 2016
The Gardner Pie Company officially incorporates in 1945.

Deliver fresh baked pies to companies like: Goodyear, Firestone and Goodrich, using one of the first food trucks.
60's & 70's
Transition to Frozen Pies
Introducing the 1st topped pies; Peach Praline, Pineapple Upside-down, and Apple Walnut.
May 1993
Innovation continues with the development of our sweet and spicy South of the Border line and our handmade Colonial pies.

The 3rd generation officially takes the reins and the future looks really tasty.

Fun Fact:
The first jigsaw puzzle was created in 1767 when John Spilsbury, an English cartographer, chopped up a wooden map of Britain and challenged the public to reassemble it. He called it a “dissected puzzle.”
